Microsoft has named and dated Halo 5: Guardians for release on Xbox One in autumn/fall 2015.

Hello guys and welcome yourselves to my first Halo post here on the blog. (Sorry this wasn’t uploaded sooner)

In a prepared statement, 343 Industries general manager Bonnie Ross described the shooter as “a massive and exciting project” that “takes full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware andcreate worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen.”

The sequel – first announced via an E3 2013 trailer – will run at 60 frames per second on dedicated servers with “the scope, features and scale we’ve been dreaming of for more than a decade.”

“Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger effort than Halo 4. That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine”

In a press release, Microsoft refers to the game as “Halo Xbox One”, and teases “the next chapter of the award-winning Xbox franchise developed by 343 Industries that will take you on a new journey in the Halo universe beginning in 2014”.

“That journey definitely begins in 2014 with a giant leap, rather than one small step,” she said, promising more information at the Xbox E3 2014 media briefing on June 9.

The delay to 2015 strengthens rumours that a second ‘anniversary’ Halo title could spearhead Xbox One’s Christmas 2014 line-up.
